Our journey through Mauritania
A week before the train
Our journey began long before we climbed onto the Iron Ore Train. We spent a week discovering Mauritania, its desert landscapes and the people we met along the way. The places we found in the Sahara were already a highlight in their own right.
The road in between
Getting around meant accepting uncertainty. Hitchhiking could involve long waits, and progress did not always come easily. Those moments were part of the experience, alongside the landscapes and encounters that made the journey so memorable.
A night on the Iron Ore Train
We finished the trip with a night on the Iron Ore Train. It was intense, and Silvia describes it as one of the wildest nights of her life. She would do it again, but would approach some things differently. The ride was the finale to a journey that had already given us so much.
